The best way of dealing with sunburn naturally is to prevent sunburn occurring by staying indoors, keeping out of direct sunlight for anything more than the shortest period of time whilst staying in the shade as much as possible, wearing a suitable hat and a shirt or t-shirt, etc.

So, you know all this and yet there is still a good chance that you will suffer sunburn at some stage because however much we know about ‘sunshine safety’, we all make mistakes from time to time (and I willingly include myself in this group).

Natural Sunburn Remedies – What Should You Know?

For example, whilst it is something of an apocryphal seaside postcard and TV comedy show standby, people really do fall asleep in the sun and there is many an individual who still has the painful memories (and perhaps even in the most unfortunate cases, the scars) to prove it.

This brings us to the first important point about sunburn that you must take on board. Whilst this chapter is going to highlight many natural remedies for mild or minor sunburn, if you suffer serious sunburn, you need to seek medical attention.

As a general rule, the effects of sunburn will start to become painfully apparent anywhere between one hour and four hours after you have come inside and if during that time you begin to notice (or suspect) anything other ‘normal’ sunburn pain, you should get to the doctor as quickly as you can see to seek professional advice.

Whilst it would be possible in a perfect world to treat every medical condition, no matter how severe or serious it is in a completely natural way, it is an unfortunate fact that this is just not the way the world is. There are times when you need to seek medical attention, and if you have reason to suspect that your sunburn could be serious, this would be a perfect example.

Natural Sunburn Remedies – Quick Action

If for instance you feel lightheaded, disorientated or dizzy, this may be a sign of serious sunburn or even sunstroke. Similarly, if the burned area starts coming up in blisters very quickly, you have a serious case of sunburn and there is also the risk of infection if any of the blisters bursts or starts to weep, so you must get to the consulting room or surgery as soon as possible.

Natural Sunburn Remedies

If it is not so serious…

Fortunately for most people who suffer sunburn, their condition is not particularly serious, although there is no doubt that it is not particularly pleasant either.

Nevertheless, unless you really overdo the sunbathing or tanning booth sessions, it is not that likely that your sunburn condition is going to cause any serious or long-term medical problems. Consequently, this will generally mean that you can deal with the problem yourself or with help from a friend or family member.

If the reason that you have been exposed to the sun is because you are attempting to acquire a suntan and assuming that you are a fair skinned individual, then a slight redness to your skin after you have finished indicates that you are going in the right direction.

Natural Sunburn Remedies – Special Tips

However, if your skin continues to become increasingly red after you have finished your sun session and the pain or itching from that particular skin area inexorably increases, then you may have overdone it and burned yourself.

Really, the major giveaway here is the pain because pain is your body’s way of telling you that you have overdone it or that something has gone seriously wrong with some part of your body. In other words, pain is a messenger and the more pain there is, the more you need to pay attention to the message.

If you have been burned or even if you suspect that you might have before the onset of pain confirms your suspicions, one of the first things that you can do to attempt to relieve the situation is take a nice cool shower.

Natural Sunburn Remedies – Shower

As you will probably know if you have ever suffered sunburn, an area of the skin that has been burnt by the sun feels hot to the touch and a cool shower can help to reduce this heat.

Natural Sunburn Remedies with Shower – Safety Tips

However, if the burned area is already becoming painful, you should avoid using a shower that throws out water at too high a pressure as the impact of the water on the burned area could make the pain worse.

Natural Sunburn Remedies – Cool Bath

Another ‘first reaction’ option is to take a cool bath as immersing yourself in almost cold water can again alleviate the stinging, itching sensation that is a common side-effect of sunburn.

In my experience, either immersing yourself in a cool bath or taking a cool shower as soon as you come inside from the sun (or return from the tanning salon) serves another extremely important purpose as well.

Natural Sunburn Remedies – Water

One of the most unpleasant side-effects of suffering sunburn is that the burned skin dies and ultimately peels off, which in a worst case scenario can lead to permanent scarring. Cool water helps to reduce this which is another reason to use this as a first line of defense strategy if sunburn is starting to become evident or it looks like it might later on in the day or evening.

A further variation on the idea of using water to calm your sunburn problem is to add a cup of baking soda to a lukewarm bath before soaking in the water for 30 minutes or so. Many people report that this is a very effective way of taking the heat out of sunburn, thereby reducing the inevitable pain that is associated with the condition.

Natural Sunburn Remedies – Aloe Vera

Another very commonly used natural solution that is recommended for dealing with sunburn is to apply aloe vera to the burned area. Whilst this plant extract is very effective for cooling and soothing sunburned areas of your body, you do need to make sure that the product you are using is very high in aloe vera itself and that it not just a trace of aloe vera made up with lanolin (or something like it) as many products are.

This is important because there is some evidence that whilst lanolin helps to cool the burned area in the initial stages, it can actually exacerbate the pain later once your body has warmed the solution.

Natural Sunburn Remedies – Sunburn Sprays

Hence, you should avoid lanolin-based sunburn sprays and creams and you must read the label if you buy an aloe vera product to ensure that it is as near to being pure aloe vera cream or gel as possible. In fact, the best aloe vera sunburn solution is to use the leaves and stalk of the plant itself to alleviate the pain and itching by breaking them to release the soothing extract before applying that broken plant section directly to the burned area.

Natural Sunburn Remedies – Milk compress

Some people who have suffered sunburn swear by the idea of using a milk compress to soothe the pain on the basis that the fat and lactic acid in full fat milk combine very effectively to relieve the pain. In this scenario, you soak a suitably sized soft cloth in cold milk before dabbing the cloth on the burned area before rinsing the burned area with cool water and drying it.

However, when you dry it, do so with a gentle dabbing motion rather than rubbing it with the towel as this will irritate the skin. Also note that this only works with full fat milk as the fat seems to be a vital ingredient in the soothing property of this strategy.

Natural Sunburn Remedies – Yoghurt

Cool fresh yoghurt straight from the fridge is another sunburn solution that many people find to be very effective. In this case, it is a question of applying the yoghurt to the burned area for 10 or 15 minutes before rinsing it off with cool water. As a variation, you might like to try adding cucumber to the mixture as this is said to enhance the pain and irritation soothing qualities of the yoghurt.

And if there is no fresh yoghurt available in the fridge, mayonnaise may serve a similar purpose and can be used in the same way.

Natural Sunburn Remedies – Tea

Tea is another liquid that is said to bring relief to mild to moderate sunburn. In this case, make a strong brew of tea by using several teabags and boiling the water until it turns a rich, strong brown. At this point, remove the tea from the heat and allow it to cool to lukewarm before soaking a towel in the liquid. Next, apply the soaked towel to the burned area, making sure that there is another towel in the appropriate position to catch the drips, as the strong tea does have the capacity to cause stains.

Although the tea is slightly lukewarm, most people who have tried this solution report that when it is applied to a sunburned area, it feels extremely cool and soothing.

Natural Sunburn Remedies – Tea Soaked Towel

Consequently, you could leave the tea soaked towel in situ for 30 minutes, although if pain relief starts to dissipate, you can re-soak it in the lukewarm solution before re-applying. It is believed that the sunburn soothing qualities of this tea method is a result of the amount of tannins in the drink, but whatever the reason is, it seems to work.

Aromatherapy for Sunburn

Natural Sunburn Remedies – Lavender Essential Oil

Applying essential oil of lavender is another sunburn solution that many people swear by. Indeed, it is sometimes suggested that lavender will draw the pain out of slightly more serious sunburn as well, although in this case, you probably need to avoid touching the burned area as skin to skin contact is likely to hurt.

Instead, drip the oil onto the burned area and gently spread it using a tissue instead of your fingers. Allow the oil to do its work for 30 minutes or so and you should find that the pain from the burn has decreased noticeably or even disappeared altogether.

Natural Sunburn Remedies – Homemade Essential Oil Recipes

Another essential oil solution that you might want to try is to mix one part tea tree oil with 10 parts olive oil (or another appropriate carrier oil and) before soaking a soft cloth to dab the mixture onto the burned area. The healing and soothing qualities of tea tree oil have been relied upon by the indigenous peoples of Australia as a cure for a wide range of medical conditions for hundreds (or more likely, thousands) of years.

The qualities of this oil have become increasingly widely recognized as it is now established that it has strong antibacterial, antifungal and antiseptic qualities, all of which will help to minimize the pain and damage caused by sunburn.

There was a time in this world when the need to lose weight was completely unheard of. People ate well, but they worked well too. They woke up early in the morning and then engaged in a whole day’s work. This work was mostly physical labor. People worked on fields digging, sowing, and harvesting. They tilled they soil, rode horses, worked on farms and ranches. The result was they could afford to eat almost anything they wanted in whatever quantities they wanted.

But that was ages ago, and life styles have changed. Most of us have sedentary jobs that demand little or no exercise at all. As a result, weight gain has become a major concern for almost every city dweller.

It’s not about the hour glass figure or the perfectly sculpted and toned body. It is more about staying fit and remaining healthy to ensure a long, disease free life. Everybody knows those extra pounds spell illness.

Follow the tips in this article and watch those extra pounds melt away.

Natural Weight Loss Tip # 1

Drink plenty of water. Water is not just way to flush out toxins. If you have more water in your body you will generally feel healthier and more fit. It also helps you feel full, so you don’t have the urge to eat so much. And water has no calories at all.

Natural Weight Loss Tip # 2

Start your day with a glass of water. It’s a wonderful way to start you day. A glass of water lubricates your insides. You can still have your morning cup of tea, but have it after a glass of water.

Natural Weight Loss Tip # 3

Drink a glass of water before you eat each meal. Water takes up space in your stomach, so you feel fuller without eating as much.

Natural Weight Loss Tip # 4

Have another glass of water while you are having your meal. Again this is another way of making yourself full. Instead of drinking it all at once, take a sip after each bite of food. It will help the food settle and you’ll feel full faster.

Natural Weight Loss Tip # 5

Stay away from sweetened bottle drinks, especially sodas. They are full of sugar and calories.

Natural Weight Loss Tip # 6

Include foods that contain more water, like tomatoes and watermelons. They contain 90 – 95 % water, so feast on them as much as you like. They fill you up without adding pounds.

Natural Weight Loss Tip # 7

Eat fresh fruit instead of drinking fruit juice. Juice is often sweetened with sugar, but fresh fruit has natural sugars. When you eat fruit, you are taking in a lot of fiber, which the body needs, and fruit is an excellent source of vitamins.

Natural Weight Loss Tip # 8

If you have a craving for fruit juice, try making your own. There are lots of juicing machines on the market.

Natural Weight Loss Tip # 9

Choose fresh fruit instead of processed fruit. Processed and canned fruit does not have as much fiber as fresh fruit and processed and canned fruit is nearly always sweetened with sugar.

Natural Weight Loss Tip # 10

Increase your fiber intake. Your body needs a lot of fiber, so try to include it in your diet. Eat as many fruits and vegetables as you can.

Natural Weight Loss Tip # 11

Eat lots of vegetables. Leafy green vegetables are the best. Include a salad in you meal plan everyday.

Natural Weight Loss Tip # 12

Eat intelligently. Choose your foods wisely. Instead of grabbing chips or candy bars, grab a fruit or vegetable.

Natural Weight Loss Tip # 13

Watch what you eat. Sometimes the garnishes can be richer than the food itself. Accompaniments can be very rich too.

Natural Weight Loss Tip # 14

Control your sweet tooth. Sweets generally mean calories. You don’t have to cut sweets out of your diet completely, but eat them in moderation. Every sweet you put in your mouth adds fat cells to your body.

Natural Weight Loss Tip # 15

Develop a meal schedule and stick to it. Try to have food at fixed times of the day. You can stretch these times by half an hour, but anything more is going to affect your eating pattern.

Natural Weight Loss Tip # 16

Eat only when you are hungry. Some of us have a tendency to eat whenever we see food.

Natural Weight Loss Tip # 17

Quit snacking between meals. The main problem with most snacks and junk food is, they are usually less filling and contain a lot of fat and calories.

Natural Weight Loss Tip # 18

Snack on vegetables if you have to snack.

Natural Weight Loss Tip # 19

Go easy on tea and coffee. Tea and coffee are harmless by themselves, but when you add cream and sugar they become fattening. Having a cup of tea or coffee with cream and sugar is as bad as having a piece of chocolate cake.

Natural Weight Loss Tip # 20

Drink black tea/coffee. Black tea or coffee can actually be good for you. But personally I would like to recommend tea rather than coffee. The caffeine in the coffee is not really good for you because it is an alkaloid and can affect other functions of your body like the metabolism.

Easy Weight Loss Tip # 21

Count the calories as you eat. Check the label of any packaged product for the number of calories and the serving size. For unpackaged food, buy a calorie counting book.

Easy Weight Loss Tip # 22

If you consume more calories than you should one day, add a bit of extra physical activity to your routine for the following day.

Easy Weight Loss Tip # 23

Stay away from fried foods. The oil used for frying penetrates into the food and adds unwanted calories.

Easy Weight Loss Tip # 24

Do not skip meals. The worst thing you can do while watching your weight is skip a meal. It has just the opposite effect of what you want. You need to have at least three regular meals every day.

Easy Weight Loss Tip # 25

Fresh vegetables are better than cooked or canned vegetables. Try to eat your vegetables raw. When you cook them, you are removing nearly half the vitamins.

Easy Weight Loss Tip # 26

One egg a day. It’s best if you reduce your egg intake to three a week. If you’re in the habit of eating eggs everyday, limit your eggs to one a day maximum.

Easy Weight Loss Tip # 27

Make chocolates a luxury and not a routine.

Easy Weight Loss Tip # 28

Choose a variety of foods from all food groups every day. In addition to helping you lose weight, it also helps your body fight deficiency diseases. Change the foods you eat each day so you do not get bored of your diet.

Easy Weight Loss Tip # 29

Very limited or no alcoholic beverages.

Easy Weight Loss Tip # 30

Try to have breakfast within one hour of waking up, so your body can charge itself with the energy it needs for the day. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but it does not mean that it should be the most filling meal of the day.

Easy Weight Loss Tip # 31

50% – 55% of your diet should be carbohydrates. It is a myth that you should try and avoid carbohydrates when you are on a diet. Carbohydrates are an instant source of energy.

Easy Weight Loss Tip # 32

25% – 30% of your diet should be proteins. Protein is an active part of keeping your body healthy.

Easy Weight Loss Tip # 33

Fats should only be 15% – 20 % of your diet

Easy Weight Loss Tip # 34

Try and adopt a vegetarian style diet. A vegetarian diet is healthy, but research has shown it often is missing vital minerals that come from eating meat. If you try a vegetarian diet, allow yourself to eat meat on the weekends.

Easy Weight Loss Tip # 35

Choose white meat rather than red. White meat, which includes fish and fowl, is healthier than red meat.

Easy Weight Loss Tip # 36

High Fiber multigrain breads are better than white breads. Multigrain breads allow you to increase your fiber and protein intake.

Easy Weight Loss Tip # 37

Reduce your intake of pork. Pork is not something that can help you to lose weight. So the lesser pork you eat the better chances you have of losing weight. And remember that pork includes the pork products as well, things like bacon, ham and sausages.

Easy Weight Loss Tip # 38

Limit your sugar intake. Use sugar substitutes to sweeten your food. They are just as sweetening, but not fattening.

Easy Weight Loss Tip # 39

Graze 5 to 6 times a day. Instead of sticking to just three meals a day, try grazing. Grazing means having 5 or 6 smaller meals instead of three large meals. It is an excellent way of having smaller quantities of food.

Easy Weight Loss Tip # 40

Eat cheat food occasionally, but only for flavor. There are many foods you need to avoid in your diet, but you may have an undying craving for them. Do not avoid them altogether. Indulge in them once in a while, but only in moderation. Don’t use them to fill up, but simply to fill a craving. Enjoy the flavor.

Tip # 41

Watch your fat intake. Each fat gram contains 9 calories. By knowing the total calories and the quantity of fat in your food, you can estimate the percentage of fat. Fat content should not exceed 30%.

Tip # 42

Go easy on salt. Too much salt is one of the causes of obesity.

Tip # 43

Change from butter to cholesterol free butter. It tastes the same, but is much healthier for you.

Tip # 44

Instead of frying food, try baking it. Baking is a healthier method of preparing food because it doesn’t require excessive amounts of fat or oil.

Tip # 45

Use a non stick frying pan for your cooking so you do not have to add oil.

Tip # 46

Steam your vegetables instead of cooking them. The best option is eating your vegetables fresh, however, if you do not like eating fresh vegetables, try steaming them without adding any additional salt or seasoning. This is the healthiest way to eat cabbages, cauliflowers and a host of other vegetables.

Tip # 47

Carry parsley with you. Parsley is an excellent thing to munch on between meals. It’s vitamin rich and keeps your breath fresh.

Tip # 48

Choose low fat or no fat substitutes. Although fat gives us nutrients, it also packs on the calories. It’s much better to get your nutrients from proteins and carbohydrates. It’s healthier for your heart too.

Tip # 49

Avoid crash diets. They are bad for your health and you will gain your weight back as soon as you stop them. Crash diets are not a solution to weight loss. You might lose a few pounds quickly, but the moment you give up on the crash diet, all your weight comes back.

Tip # 50

Develop a habit of chewing all your food including liquid food and soft foods like sweets, and ice cream, at least 8 to 12 times. This is essential to add saliva to the food, as it starts the digestion process.

Tip # 51

Dry wine is better than sweet wine. Sweet wines naturally contain a lot of sugar, but in dry wines, most of the sugar has been fermented away.

Tip # 52

When you decide it’s time to start working out, start slowly and don’t get discouraged if you don’t achieve your fitness goals after the first week. If you try to push your body too much in the first few weeks, you are likely to end up with injuries.

Tip # 53

Check your weight before you start a training routine and keep checking for changes, but do not expect a radical drop immediately. It might be a couple weeks before you notice some change. However it is crucial that you continue to monitor your weight. As you’re losing fat weight, you’re gaining muscle mass, so your overall weight may not change as dramatically as you would like it to. Your size, however, will decrease, so measure your body regularly too.

Tip # 54

When you notice a change, reward yourself…but not with food. Go to a movie or buy yourself something like a new dress or accessories. This can help keep you motivated.

Tip # 55

Take a day off from exercise every week. Your body needs a day or two each week to relax and rejuvenate itself.

Tip # 56

Exercise outdoors as much as possible. It gives your body a chance to get fresh air and sunshine. It also keeps you perked up and it’s a break from being inside all day.

Tip # 57

Exercise at home. You don’t need to join a gym to exercise. You don’t even need to buy exercise equipment. Visit the library or look online for exercises you can do without equipment. If you do want to get some equipment, a Wii Fit is a great investment and it makes exercising a lot of fun.

Tip # 58

Exercise with a friend. Ideally, it should be somebody committed to exercising like you or your interest might fade.

Tip # 59

Stop when your body has had enough. There is no need to push it. When you have worked out for a considerable time, your body will start giving you signals.

Listen to your body, especially in the initial stages. Take one step at a time. Stop when you are out of breath or when a certain part of your body tells you that it has had enough.

Tip # 60

Increase your exercise time gradually. Dramatic jumps in exercise time can leave your body exhausted and more prone to injury. Instead of increasing your workout routine by 30 minutes, increase it by 10 minutes a week for 3 weeks.

Tip # 61

Select an exercise pattern to suit your lifestyle. All of us have different lifestyles and professions so follow an exercise routine that is suitable for you.

Tip # 62

Don’t stand, walk. If you can walk about then do so. Do not stand in a fixed position. Pacing about is a good thing to do. If you are thinking deeply about something, try pacing, it will aid in your thinking too.

Tip # 63

Don’t sit, stand. If you can stand, then do not sit. The golden rule is to choose a position that is less comfortable.

Tip # 64

Don’t lie down, sit. The rule that we mentioned above rings true here as well.

Tip # 65

Replace the comfortable couch and chairs in front of the TV. If you have less comfortable furniture in front of the TV, you are less likely to sit in front of it.

Tip # 66

If you have a sitting job, stand up and stretch every half hour. Most jobs today are sitting jobs that are sedentary. By stretching every half hour you help your body stay awake and your metabolism running, which helps burn fat.

Tip # 67

While making telephone calls try walking around.

Tip # 68

Use the stairs instead of the elevator whenever you can. If you have to travel to the 40th floor, take the elevator part way and walk the rest of the way.

Tip # 69

Smoking is bad for weight loss. Smoking may not contribute to weight loss but smoking leads to other conditions like erratic eating habits and excessive dependence on things like coffee.

Tip # 70

If you hate running, remember, you do not have to run a marathon to stay fit. 10 minutes of cardio each day is good enough for most people.

Tip # 71

If you can’t run, try walking. 15 minutes of brisk walking a day is enough to keep most people fit.

Tip # 72

Any distance is walkable if you have the time, so consider walking to places that you would normally drive, such as work or the market if they’re not too far away. It may take you longer, but the health benefits will last you a lifetime.

Tip # 73

It sounds strange, but some people have reported that they lost more weight when they drank black coffee before a workout. While there’s no hard data to support this, nutritionists speculate that the caffeine in coffee makes the body rely more on fat for fuel during the work out. It’s worth trying.

Tip # 74

Avoid drinking coffee in excess, as it tends to desensitize your body to the fat burning effects of caffeine.

Tip # 75

Stop using remote controls. Get up from the couch and change the TV channel manually.

Tip # 76

Often when we come home tired from work, we tend to get others to do simple chores for us. These things are no big deal. They are things that we can do for ourselves, but we don’t.

Tip # 77

Walk up and down escalators as if they were normal stairs.

Tip # 78

During TV commercial breaks, get up and walk around. Reach over and touch your toes or do any simple exercise that will get the blood flowing.

Tip # 79

Wriggle your toes and your fingers whenever you can. This is a stress reliever and it gives you a chance to work your hand and leg joints.

Tip # 80

Turn on music and dance like wild. Let your hair down once in a while. Think back to the days of your wild child hood. Close the door of your room, turn on your sound system to the highest volume possible and do the wackiest dance you can think of. Jump on your bed and jump off it again. Roll all over the floor. Have fun.

Tip # 81

Carry a soft flying disc or Frisbee with you. Toss it around and get up and go get it. This is also an excellent way to beat stress. It makes you feel good to throw something. Although it’s not the throwing part that you are interested in, it is the fetching part. Each time you get up to fetch, you are giving yourself a chance to stretch your muscles and joints and get your metabolism working harder to burn more fat.

Tip # 82

Park at least a block away from your destination and walk the rest of the way. You might not have time to fit long walks into your busy schedule, so this is a way to ensure you get to walk for a little bit every day. If you take the bus or the subway, get off at an earlier station and walk the rest of the way.

Tip # 83

When nobody is watching try doing pelvic gyrations. Your mid section gets the least bit of exercise so excess weight tends to settle there.

Stomach crunches might be too strenuous an exercise to start off with, but gyrations are relatively mild. Pelvic gyrations make you thrust your midsection towards all directions and this is the best way of tightening every muscle in that area.

Tip # 84

Tuck in your tummy whenever you walk. Get that proper gait and exercise your muscles at the same time.

Tip # 85

Try breathing exercises. Breathing exercises can lead to weight loss. If you are doing the breathing exercises properly, you will find that you can exert a lot of pressure on the muscles around the mid section.

You can feel a tightening of these muscles each time you breathe in or breathe out. So breathe properly, it is good for you.

Tip # 86

Try yoga. Yoga is one of the best ways of losing weight. One of the benefits of yoga is, you learn to control virtually every muscle and joint of your body so the issue of weight gain will cease to exist.

Tip # 87

Try massaging your partner. This is a fun way to lose weight. It is something that can give your partner a lot of pleasure and at the same time can help you exercise.

Tip # 88

Punch the air 50 times. It helps your cardiovascular system and jump starts your metabolism.

Tip # 89

Instead of walking up and down the stairs one at a time, take them two at a time.

Tip # 90

If you have a dog, take it for a run and let the dog lead you on. You will be surprised how much exercise a dog can give you.

Animals are sensible enough to know that they need a lot of exercise, so let your animal walk you and before you know it you’ll be running.

Tip # 91

Join a dance class. Dancing is a wonderful way to burn off extra calories. When you dance, you are burning a lot of calories.

Tip # 92

Lean against a wall with your hands flat against the wall and your face very close to the wall. Use you hands to push your body away from the wall. It resembles a standing push up and is easier than lying on the floor.

Tip # 93

If there is a pool nearby, go for a swim as often as you can. Swimming is one of the best exercises to move your whole body.

Tip # 94

Play table tennis or basket ball. Games are a fun way to lose weight. It is much more exciting to play a game than just work out by yourself. The best thing about games is, they are addictive. It is something you can look forward to and there is no stress involved in the program. In fact the more you play the less you will consider this to be a part of your weight loss program. As you burn away those calories, you will also be able to expand your social circle.

Tip # 95

Any work out should start with a 5 to 10 minute warm up and should end with a 5 to 10 minute cool down session. Your body needs to reach a certain level of readiness before it can actually start responding to exercise.

Tip # 96

Do not carry your mobile phone, but leave it someplace where you can hear it ringing. When it rings, you have to get up to answer it.

Tip # 97

While traveling in an elevator, raise up on your toes and then back onto your feet again. Do this several times. Also try flexing your buttock muscles.

In fact there are many muscles in our body that we can twitch and flex without inviting the attention of others. Even if others do notice you, its no big deal.

Tip # 98

Undress and stare at yourself in front of your mirror. If what you see displeases you, then you have more reason to work out.

Turn to your side and get a very good view of your side profile. This is an excellent way of checking whether you have a tummy that is starting to bulge or has bulged already.

Tip # 99

If you have a banister rail or a balustrade that will support you, sit on it and pump your legs as if you are riding a bicycle, taking care not to fall off. This might sound like a crazy idea, but it’s fun. And fun will keep you active.

Tip # 100

Do not slouch in your chair. Maintain an erect posture with your tummy tucked in. Slouching is a very bad habit. Not only is it bad for your back, but it also gives you a very flabby figure.

Tip # 101

Breathe in as strongly as you can and tuck in your tummy as much as you can. Hold it for a few seconds and slowly release your breath, taking care not to let out your tummy. Try to keep breathing like this at least fifty or sixty times a day.

After the first day, you should feel the muscles of your stomach tightening each time you do this. Practice this for 20 days. At the end of the twentieth day, you will have lost at least an inch.

How to Speed up Your Metabolism?

Chances are, you’ve tried to boost your metabolism at least once in your life. Perhaps you weren’t quite certain what a metabolism was, or didn’t know how to accomplish your goals.

Maybe you started a rigorous exercise program of jogging and muscle toning. Or you started eating several small portions a day, rather than three large traditional meal-sized portions. Maybe you started taking all kinds of supplements that promised to boost your metabolism.

The thing is, all of these methods can work.

Exercise, eating strategically, and ensuring that your body has catabolism-friendly supplements are three of many generally good weight loss ideas.

So what’s the problem?

The problem is, many of us have no real scientific understanding of what, how, or why these methods boost metabolism.

For example, a person may start a vigorous exercise program that includes significant aerobic cardiovascular movement, such as jogging or cycling. After a week, that person may notice a drop in weight.

But is this due to a boosted metabolism? Maybe – maybe not. Could it be due to water loss through perspiration that hasn’t been adequately replenished? Maybe – maybe not.

Many people risk their health, because they don’t quite understand the tips, strategies, and techniques of boosting their metabolism. The popular and widely respected Internet publication i-Village, highlights 11 key ways to speed up metabolism. To most easily introduce and discuss them here, we’ve taken these 11 key ideas and broken them down into 3 broad categories:

Exercise

Lifestyle

Diet

As you go through each of the 11 key points, you’ll certainly note that there is some overlap between them. For example, it’s hard to imagine that introducing exercise into your life isn’t, a lifestyle choice.

Don’t get bogged down in the categories; they are merely provided to help organize these points, and to help you easily refer to them in the future. The important thing is to understand each of the 14 points, and evaluate how you can responsibly integrate them into your life.

How to Speed up Your Metabolism? – Exercise

Exercise is a big part of boosting your metabolism and burning calories. Unless you’re born with one of those unusually active metabolisms, which allows you to eat thousands of calories a day without gaining weight, you’re like the vast majority of us who need to give our metabolisms a bit of a kick.

Cardiovascular (aerobic) exercise is an important part of boosting your metabolism. Increasing your heart rate, blood circulation, body temperature, and oxygen intake/carbon dioxide exchange, all send messages to your metabolic system to initiate catabolism (breaking down cells and using them for energy).

How to Speed up Your Metabolism? – Build Muscle

Many people, especially women, are very leery about an exercise regimen that can lead to muscle building. There is a perception that muscle building leads to muscle bulking, and before long, they’ll look like a body builder.

Provided that women aren’t supplementing their workouts with specific muscle-building supplements, there is no need to be concerned, because building lean muscle won’t make them bulk up.

But why worry about building muscle in the first place? Because a pound of muscle burns more calories than a pound of fat. So the more muscle you have, the more calories you’ll burn. You don’t even have to do anything. You’ll simply burn more calories, because muscle requires more of an energy investment.

But if you build muscle and then leave it without exercise, over time, the muscle fibers weaken and you’ll lose that wonderful calorie-burning factory.

How to Speed up Your Metabolism? – Interval Training

The basic weight loss principle behind exercise is catabolism. Essentially, if you can engineer your body to require more energy, your body will comply by breaking cells down to deliver it. And the process of metabolism burns calories.

So based on that logic, interval training fits in with the overall plan. Interval training is simply adding a high-energy burning component to your exercise plan on an infrequent, or interval, basis.

For example, if you can jog for 20 minutes every other day, you’re boosting your metabolism and burning calories/energy. But you can actually burn disproportionately more calories if, during that 20 minute jog, you add a 30 second or 1 minute sprint.

Why? Because during this 30 seconds or 1 minute, you give your body a bit of a jolt.

Not an unhealthy jolt, but enough that your body has to turn things up a notch. And to compensate for your extra energy requirements, the body will burn more calories.

Interval training only works when it’s at intervals. The metabolism-boosting benefits you enjoy as a result of interval training are primarily due to the fact that your body suddenly, needs to find more energy.

While it was chugging along and supplying your energy needs during your cardiovascular exercise, it all of a sudden needs to grab some more for 30 seconds or a minute; and in that period, it will boost your metabolism even further.

If you decided to extend your 30 second or 1 minute sprint into a 20 minute sprint, you simply wouldn’t experience all of the benefits.

Yes, your body would use more energy if you extend yourself to the higher range of your aerobic training zone. But your body won’t necessarily get that jolt that only comes from interval training.

So remember: your goal with interval training is to give your body a healthy jolt where it suddenly says to itself:

“Whoa! We need more energy here fast, this person has increased their heart rate from 180 beats per minute to 190 beats per minute. Let’s go to any available cell, like those fat cells down at the waist, and break them down via catabolism so this person can get the energy that they need.”

Interval training can last longer than 30 seconds or a minute. Some experts suggest that you can use interval training for 30-40 minutes, depending on your state of health and what your overall exercise regimen looks like.

The reason we’re focusing on 30 seconds to 1 minute is simply to give you a clear understanding that interval training is a kind of mini training within a training program.

And, as always, don’t overdo it with your interval training. Your goal here is to become healthier and stronger, and lose weight in that process.

You gain nothing if you run so fast or bike so hard during interval training that you hurt yourself. You will actually undermine your own health, and possibly have to stop exercising while torn muscles or other ailments heal.

How to Speed up Your Metabolism? – Variety

There are a few easy ways to add variety to your exercise program. In addition to interval training, you can break up a longer routine into smaller parts.

For example, instead of committing to 1×1 hour workout a day, it can be split into 2×30 minute workouts; or even, 3×20 minute workouts.

You can also work in additional exercise into your daily routine by doing things like taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Or starting your day with a brisk walk instead of a coffee and the newspaper. Instead of parking close to the entrance of a building, park as far away as possible and walk.

All of these tips provide two metabolism-boosting benefits.

First, they can make exercising more fun. While it’s important to have an exercise routine, you don’t want to have a boring exercise routine, because then your chances of stopping are that much greater.

So adding these new elements to your overall exercise commitment simply helps encourage you to stick with the program. And since exercising is a core part of boosting your metabolism, any technique or tip that helps you continue exercising over the long term is a wise piece of advice.

The second important benefit of variety in your exercise program leads us back to the interval training concept, discussed above.

When you add variety to your workout, your body cannot get into a groove. Remember, the body is a remarkable piece of work, and will always strive to do things efficiently.

Naturally, the overall state of your health, which can be influenced by genetics and other factors outside of your control, will play a role in how efficiently your body runs.

But regardless of how your body is put together, it wants to do things as efficiently as it possibly can. So when you start exercising, your body develops an expectation of energy output. It’s not doing this to be lazy, it’s doing this because it’s efficient. If your body starts to predict that you need a certain amount of energy to complete a 20 minute jog, but then you jog for 2 minutes, followed by 5 minutes of walking, 2 minutes of jogging and 1 minute of sprinting, your body may require a great deal more energy to help you achieve this.

As a result, you may find yourself very out of breath or tired as your body strives to meet this increased demand. Naturally, catabolism will be involved and your body metabolism will increase.

But over time, maybe a month or so, your body will simply become more efficient. It will become stronger, and will be able to supply your energy needs much more efficiently. Your health has improved and your body has to work less to provide you with your energy needs.

Ironically, this can actually obscure your metabolism-boosting efforts, because you want your body to start the catabolism process, but if your body is efficiently working, it won’t dig into its reserves (e.g. fat cells) in order to provide you with the energy you need.

So the trick is to keep variety in your workouts. Many people choose to cross-train. It targets different muscle groups, but it keeps your body from finding a groove whereby it tried to help you by slowing down your metabolism.

Remember, your body doesn’t read books like this. It doesn’t need to, and it doesn’t care. It has no clue that a speedier metabolism is “good” or “bad”.

How to Speed up Your Metabolism? – Lifestyle

Balancing work, family, hobbies, and other commitments often means that our lifestyle isn’t so much a choice, as it is a necessity, but we can do little things that help speed up our metabolism.

How to Speed up Your Metabolism? – Get on the Wagon

Do you know people who carefully choose low-fat, low-calorie meal choices, are very disciplined when it comes to resisting the Chef’s Special pecan pie for desert, yet order a glass or two of wine with their meal? These people are undermining their efforts to boost their metabolism.

Studies show that drinking alcohol with meals actually encourages over eating, which means more calories that need to be burned away or transformed into fat. Many people are simply unaware that many alcoholic drinks are laden with calories, almost as much as sugary soft drinks.

A bottle of beer or a cocktail is a few hundred calories. Wine is less, but still adds your calorie count. The tip here isn’t to stop drinking alcohol altogether, but to be aware that it’s adding to your calorie intake.

How to Speed up Your Metabolism? – Sleep

Most of us don’t have as much control over the amount that we sleep as we should. Work, family, education, housekeeping, and so many other tasks can literally prevent us from getting the amount of sleep that we need.

Experts tell us, getting enough sleep actually improves metabolism. People who are constantly sleep deprived, typically find that they have less energy to do regular, daily activities.

As a result, sleep-deprived people often lower their own metabolism. They simply don’t have the strength to break down food efficiently, particularly carbohydrates. This is a very difficult issue, because many people can only find time to exercise by borrowing from their rest time.

For example, after a long day of work and dealing with family and home commitments, a person may find the only time they have to exercise is late at night. So what should you do?

Ultimately, it’s a question of balance. Naturally, if you’re willing to exercise, and your doctor agrees that it’s healthy for you, then you’re not going to get fit by sleeping instead of exercising.

Yet, if you steal time away from your sleep in order to exercise, you can actually do more harm than good, because the following day, you won’t have enough energy to digest what you eat. The answer to this catch-22 lies in balance.

You don’t have to work out every night. Or perhaps you can integrate a workout into your life during the day, maybe at lunchtime or right after work.

Most fitness clubs are open very early, some are even open 24 hours. You can also get some fitness equipment for your home and workout there.

If you find you have trouble sleeping, this can also negatively affect the speed of your metabolism, because you won’t have enough energy the following day. Insomnia and other sleep disorders are very common problems.

Some non-medical tips to help you fall asleep include:

Don’t eat late at night

Try drinking warm milk before bedtime

Don’t turn on the TV at night

Try yoga or other stress-relieving practices

Try having a warm bath before bedtime

Don’t exercise close to bedtime, your body can become so energized that it doesn’t want to sleep.

How to Speed up Your Metabolism? – Relax

We briefly noted yoga in the list of Things to Do above, and that brings us to another key influence of your metabolism, stress.

Experts believe stress can send unwanted signals to our body, signals that lead to slower metabolism. Essentially, when the body is under constant stress, it releases stress hormones that flood the system. These stress hormones actually tell the body to create larger fat cells in the abdomen. The result can be both increased weight and a slower metabolism.

Some easy stress relievers are:

Walk more

Listening to relaxing music

Meditate

Practice yoga

Eat non-stimulating foods (e.g. no caffeine, no sugar, and so on)

Re-center yourself and de-stress

So there’s a link between how much stress you experience and your ability to break down cells and lose weight.

If you don’t want to relax, because you don’t have the time, your stressed-out life is probably playing a role in your weight gain or your inability to lose weight.

How to Speed up Your Metabolism? – Ladies Only

Scientists have determined that the 2-week period prior to menstruation is a premium fat burning time. Australian studies have shown that women were able to burn off as much as 30% more fat in the 2 weeks preceding their period.

At this time, the female body’s production of estrogen and progesterone are at their highest. Since these hormones tell the body to use fat as a source of energy, exercising during this time, can really pay off. The body will be inclined to target fat cells for catabolism.

How to Speed up Your Metabolism? – Don’t Hate Calories

The word calorie has a bad rap. We constantly come across calorie reduced or low calorie foods.

The calories that come from cake are empty calories, which means there’s no real nutritional value that your body can squeeze out and make use of. But in the bigger picture, it’s unwise for your metabolism to become calorie-avoidant.

If you suddenly decrease the amount of calories that you eat, your body won’t try to do more with less. It won’t necessarily provoke catabolism and thus reduce weight and fat cells. Instead, your body will try to keep you alive by slowing down its metabolism. It will simply believe that something is wrong, maybe you’re trapped somewhere without food, and it will just begin to become very stingy with energy.

So what’s the end result? If your body needs 2000 calories a day to survive, and you suddenly give it only 1000, it won’t begin to burn off 1000 calories worth of cells that you have lying around on your love handles.

Instead, your body will slow down its metabolism. It will really try and get as much energy out of those 1000 calories as it can, because it doesn’t want to waste anything.

You’ll feel more tired because your body is being very miserly with energy, and will devote its 1000-calorie ration to essential systems, like blood and oxygen supply.

Metabolically, you won’t be burning off extra calories. In fact, you can actually gain weight by dramatically reducing your calorie intake.

The flipside of this is, you should consume a daily caloric intake that is proportionate to your body size, type, and weight loss goals.

Once you determine the amount of calories that you need, you can provide that to your body via healthy, efficient calories. For example, if your body needs 1500 calories per day, and one slice of double-fudge chocolate cake delivers 500 of those, you can see that eating just one slice will take up a full 1/3 of your daily caloric needs, and that’s not good.

On the other hand, you can see that drinking a tasty fruit smoothy made with yogurt and nuts can deliver half as many calories, but provide you with essential nutrients, vitamins, and other elements that your body needs to healthily do its work.

How to Speed up Your Metabolism? – Eat More?

Fresh on the heels of the discussion on calories, it’s also helpful to note that eating frequently throughout the day can be very good for boosting metabolism. There are a couple of reasons for this.

The first reason is people who tend to eat throughout the day do considerably less snacking. As a result, they tend to avoid potato chips or candy bars that they might otherwise consume if they suddenly felt hungry.

People who eat throughout the day don’t tend to experience severe hunger pains, because they have a steady stream of food entering the body.

The second reason is, by eating throughout the day, you are constantly keeping your metabolism in motion. It’s kind of like having a generator run all the time. It will use more electricity than if you powered it on 3 times a day.

If you plan to eat more often, you should keep a food journal that notes what you eat and drink throughout the day.

You should know the calorie levels of what you eat, and the overall nutritional values, too.

Merely focusing on calories is only half of the job. You need to ensure that you’re eating enough protein, carbohydrates, unsaturated fats, and other vitamins and minerals that your body needs in order to function at optimal levels.

How to Speed up Your Metabolism? – Eat Early

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day for boosting your metabolism and assisting with weight loss. People who eat breakfast, are much less inclined to snack throughout the morning. Of course, if you’re eating more frequently, you can still eat something between breakfast and lunch.

Studies have shown that metabolism slows during sleep, and doesn’t typically get going again until you eat. Therefore, starting the day with breakfast is like kick starting your metabolism. You’ll actually burn more calories throughout the day, simply by eating breakfast.

Remember, as you eat your breakfast, control both the portions and the contents. You don’t want to eat to the point of complete fullness, because you want to eat throughout the day and you won’t be able to do that if you’re stuffed.

At the same time, beware of high-fat breakfasts. Studies have shown that high-fat breakfasts, such as those that include bacon and sausage, not only deliver lots of calories, but they also make you hungry again, very soon. In addition to having ingested a lot of fat and calories, you’ll typically find yourself rather ravenous again in a few hours.

Alternatively, breakfasts that are high in fiber, take longer to digest, and thus, the body won’t be hungry again for a while.

This is something to bear in mind; and it may explain why many people who eat breakfast, find themselves painfully hungry by lunchtime. It’s not their “overactive metabolism” at work, it’s the high fat content, which has been swiftly digested.

How to Speed up Your Metabolism? – Protein and Carbs

Studies have shown that having the proper amount of protein in your system, can actually increase the speed of your metabolism. It requires more energy to break down protein, than many other foods. The more time it takes your body to break down protein, the more calories that it uses.

Different people will require different amounts of protein on a daily basis. Those who exercise and build muscle will typically need more than the average amount.

The USFDA Food Guide suggests around 50 grams of protein a day for a reasonably active adult.

Keep in mind that some sources of protein are also sources of fat. Fast food burgers may deliver up to 20 grams of protein, but they also deliver a great deal of fat, which makes them almost nutritionally worthless. Ensure your source of protein comes from lean protein. Typically, protein from some fish and chicken is lean.

If you’re a vegetarian, or simply looking for non-meat lean protein alternatives, low-fat cheese, legumes (lentils), and yogurt are all good sources. Simply check the food labels to determine if the source of protein is lean or fatty.

How to Speed up Your Metabolism? – Carbohydrates

When the body digests carbohydrates, it require spikes in insulin. When insulin is released into the system, it promotes the storage of fat and some experts believe it also pushes down metabolic speed.

The good kinds of carbohydrate to consume are those that are high in fiber, and those from fruit and vegetable sources. These sources of carbohydrates don’t score high on the glycemic index, so they don’t cause a spike in insulin levels, and therefore, they don’t promote fat storage.

Though the first thing you think of when you see ‘diet’ is weight loss, there are many other benefits to trying out the pH Diet. Though weight loss can be a benefit (eating all these healthy foods can’t hurt your waistline, after all), there are many other advantages which make the diet something you should strongly consider in your life.

Benefits of the pH Miracle Diet – Increased Energy

When your body isn’t working so hard to keep the balance of its acidity, you will have more energy to spare for your life. Think about it, when you run your car for some time in the idle position, it isn’t going anywhere, but it’s still using gas. If you were to actually stop idling, you would get more from the gas in the tank.

The same can be said for the introduction of a pH balanced diet. When the body doesn’t have to spend so much time getting rid of waste and of fungus, then this energy can be used for other tasks – like exercising and enjoying your life.

Many people who have tried the pH Diet have noticed a marked difference in their energy levels due to the fact they can sleep better when they are eating this healthy diet. Instead of spending your time in bed digesting foods, your body can focus on repairing itself and restoring good health.

Benefits of the pH Miracle Diet – Less Mucous

One of the unfortunate buildups in the body is a natural one, but not one you might necessarily desire – mucous. When you have a lot of mucous in your body, you will not only feel uncomfortable, but this can slow down your digestion as well as your respiratory system

Coughing and excreting the mucous will be the goals of the body, but this too takes up energy from your daily life. With the pH Diet, the body will not have to buildup these stores of mucous and thus you will not have to expel it.

The mucous helps your body expel wastes and thus restore balance, but when you remove the wastes which need to be expelled, the mucous doesn’t have to be a part of your life.

Dairy products especially have been linked with an excessive buildup of mucous, so removing them, as you would with the pH Diet, will allow you to breathe easier and have healthier digestive patterns.

Benefits of the pH Miracle Diet – Enhanced Immune System

It makes sense that when your body is spending all of its time restoring balance, it doesn’t have time to focus on other things – like your immune system strength. If you want to have a strong immune system and fewer diseases, you need to have a balance of pH in the body. When the body expends all of its energy and resources just to be ‘normal,’ you may not be able to fight off the latest cold or flu.

With high nutrient foods that nourish the body, as the pH Diet provides, you will have all of the energy available to boost your white blood cell response as well as to help the immune system respond quickly to any viruses or bacteria.

Instead of having a delayed response from your immune system which might not help you fend off a cold, your newly balanced body will be able to stop immune attacks before they even cause a symptom.

Benefits of the pH Miracle Diet – Fewer Headaches

Each person responds to imbalance in different ways. Some people will feel tired, while others will feel headaches. With the introduction of a balanced pH Diet, many people have reported having fewer headaches. It seems that with the balance of acids and bases in the body, the body is less likely to have tension in the muscles or dehydration – both prime causes of headaches.

The body is also able to deal with pain in a more responsive way when the blood isn’t too acidic, it seems. The pain response is quicker and you may simply feel a slightly annoying twinge of pain, rather than a full on, throbbing headache.

Benefits of the pH Miracle Diet – Reduced Anxiety Levels

Our bodies tend to tell us when we’re doing too much or when we’re stressing needlessly – too bad we don’t always listen. If you’ve been feeling too anxious, you might find that the introduction of the pH Diet actually helps to reduce the feelings of anxiety you experience.

Because your mind is facing new challenges and stressors, your body needs to be balanced in order to help support the nervous system. But if the body is challenged with restoring the balance of the pH levels in the blood stream, it seems that those resources are diverted, leaving you feeling anxious and nervous more often.

The body can actually help you with feelings of anxiety, but it needs to be healthy to do so. By regulating one’s pH, the nervous system will be able to respond in a more balanced way to the stressors in your life – and you will be able to calm down and deal with problems instead of being anxious.

Benefits of the pH Miracle Diet – Less Risk of Cysts and Growths

You should think of the body as a series of cycles. When one thing happens, something else happens, etc. But when these cycles are interrupted, the usual results can be avoided. Some research is showing that the introduction of the pH Diet is able to help stop the growth of cysts and other benign growths (and possibly malignant ones as well). Studies have shown that people who have a more acidic diet do tend to have more problems with the calcification of tissues in their body which may be harmless, but they can cause troubles if they continue to grow in the body.

Multiple cysts can begin to cause pain in the body, for example, which will affect a person’s quality of life. Or these cysts may need to be removed as they are interrupting other basic body functions. Constant operations aren’t supportive to the body, obviously, so avoiding them whenever possible should be the goal.

With the correct pH balance in the body, calcification can be slowed or prevented as wastes will be easily excreted and removed.

Benefits of the pH Miracle Diet – Lower Risk of Diseases

As you have probably already guessed, those who incorporate a pH balanced diet into their lives also seem to have a lower risk of disease:

Cancer

Heart disease

Diabetes

Etc.

When the body is able to function properly, there seems to be no end to how it can repair itself and rejuvenate itself. Instead of tasking the body with restoring balance all the time, the body can regulate itself, correcting issues with disease as they are in their initial stages.

Instead of looking to the body to fix itself when things are really bad, a pH Diet seems to be able to reduce the risk of chronic diseases and to reduce their impact even if they do occur.

The body can repair itself when given the nutrition and the energy it needs. By removing the buildup of acid wastes in the body, it makes sense that the body could do its job all the more efficiently.

The benefits of the pH Diet are many, so it’s really no surprise more people are testing out this program to see what it has to offer them.

There are literally hundreds of different natural dandruff treatments that you will find detailed on a similarly large number of websites. The following list is intended to be a brief snapshot of many of these suggested methods that you might want to try:

Home Remedies for Dandruff using Apple Tonic:

Mix one tablespoon of apple juice with three tablespoons of water and massage the mixture into your scalp three times a week.

Home Remedies for Dandruff with Coconut Oil and Lemons:

Massage warm pure coconut oil into your scalp and then rub in the juice of two lemons. Steam your hair by placing your head over a bowl of steaming hot water with the steam sealed in with a warm damp towel. After steaming for a few minutes, leave the mixture on your hair for a couple of hours before rinsing off, and repeat two or three times every week.

Home Remedies for Dandruff with Thyme:

Boil five heaped tablespoons of dried thyme in about a pint of water for a period of 10 to 15 minutes. After this, allow the infused liquid to cool before straining the thyme leaves out of the mixture and storing the resulting liquid in a jar. Keep in the fridge and massage the liquid into your scalp three or four times a week, taking care not to rinse the solution out.

Home Remedies for Dandruff usiing Baking Soda:

It is now established that baking soda has powerful antifungal qualities, so making up a baking soda paste with warm water before applying it to your scalp should help to keep down the yeast which ultimately cause dandruff.

Winter melon or ash gourd: It is suggested on many ayurvedic medicine sites that grinding the seeds and skin of Winter melon and then mixing them together with a little warm water before applying the mixture to the scalp can help to control dandruff. Once again, it appears that this mixture has powerful antifungal qualities so that it is effective for keeping yeast at bay.

Home Remedies for Dandruff with Peanut Oil and Lemons:

Mix the juice of half a lemon with eight teaspoons of peanut oil and rub the mixture into your hair. Leave the 31

mixture on your scalp for 10 to 15 minutes before washing the solution away as normal.

Home Remedies for Dandruff using Rosemary:

Rosemary is the active ingredient in many commercial hair tonics and shampoo which rejuvenates the scalp and keeps the skin healthy. You may be able to buy rosemary oil in a health food shop, but if not, add eight tablespoons of dried rosemary to a pint of boiling water, oil solution to five minutes and then drain the wasted rosemary leaves away. Apply the solution to your scalp and leave on your head for as long as possible.

Home Remedies for Dandruff with Indian Hemp:

Indian hemp (also known as dogbane, wild cotton or amy root) is a plant that can be found growing wild throughout North America that can be used to reduce dandruff. Simply crush the plant to extract the juice before applying that juice directly to the scalp. Leave for an hour and then wash off.

Ginger tea is a one of best herbal tea for Asthma sufferer. In addition to ginger tea with its powerful anti-inflammatory characteristics, it is often suggested that drinking more relaxing herbal teas such as chamomile or mint tea can provide a significant boost in your efforts to defeat asthma naturally.

Most devotees of herbal teas suggest that both chamomile and mint have the ability not only to relax anyone who takes them on a regular basis, but they also have anti-allergenic qualities as well.

If you’re trying to deal with asthma, both these teas are well worth trying because they can help to reduce the levels of stress and anxiety in your everyday existence whilst also minimizing the possibilities of the kind of allergic reactions that will often trigger an asthma attack.

It is also suggested that both of these herbs soothe your lymph nodes too, which should again help to reduce the chances of suffering asthma attack.

Other herbs that are believed to have anti-asthma characteristics are sage and lemon balm, both of which are believed to have significant healing powers.

Many other herbs are widely believed to have powerful antioxidant effects which are once again very helpful in dealing with conditions where inflammation is an accepted problem such as asthma.

And whilst asthma itself is not a contagious disease, we have already seen that viruses can play an active role in causing asthma attacks.

Consequently, the fact that many of the following herbs also have antiviral and antibacterial properties makes them even more valuable to an asthma sufferer:

Herbs for asthma – Rosemary:

Rosemary stimulates your immune system, enhances circulation and improves your digestion. It also contains exactly the kind of anti-inflammatory compounds that you need to fight asthma.

Add this to the fact that it contains polyphenols which are widely recognized to be amongst the most effective natural antiviral and antimicrobial compounds, and you can see that rosemary is a very powerful herb indeed which can play a vital role in your fight against asthma.

Herbs for asthma – Oregano:

It is believed that the antioxidant abilities of the natural chemicals in oregano are up to 20 times more powerful than those of any other herb. It also has strong microbial characteristics as well as being a rich source of many of the vitamins that you need in a balanced diet. Add this to the fact that it contains omega-3 fatty acids and you have another herb that you should include in your daily diet (it’s great on pizzas and pasta in particular).

Herbs for asthma – Dill:

Dill is yet another herb with acknowledged antioxidant qualities that also provides a significant source of calcium, thereby protecting against bone loss. It is also a rich source of trace minerals such as manganese, magnesium and iron, all of which you need as part of a healthy diet that you must consume in your natural battle against asthma.

Herbs for asthma – Tarragon:

Tarragon is a member of the dandelion and daisy family, a herb that is once again extremely rich in antioxidants as well as antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agents. Furthermore, it helps to strengthen your immune system and to protect your liver at the same time.

Herbs for asthma – Motherwort:

Motherwort is a herb that is highly effective for opening up the airways completely naturally, as well as having the ability to relax anyone who takes it so that stress and anxiety which can aggravate asthma are both lessened.

Herbs for asthma Not a Quick solution

All of the herbs listed above can help in your fight against asthma.

However, herbs by themselves are not a magic bullet that will get rid of your problem overnight.

On the other hand, by increasing the amount of herbs you take as part of your everyday diet whilst following the other dietary guidelines, you will be doing a great deal to boost your body’s ability to combat asthma.

The idea that you simply need to change your attitude is probably not the first thing you think of when your joints begin to ache. After all, arthritis is painful, very painful, so what else can you do but complain about it?

However, each time you complain, you can be doing several things to your body:

Increasing your tension

Increasing your blood pressure and heart rate

Feeling more pain

Not enjoying the natural painkillers your body makes when you’re happy and relaxed

Life Style Changes for Arthritis

Yes, an optimistic attitude CAN help your arthritis pain.

Here are some tips to turn yourself into an optimist, or someone who just looks on the bright side of things:

Think about the good things of each day
Either in the morning or in the evening, take some time to think about the good things that happened or will happen. This will help you to recognize that your life is filled with positive things, rather than negative things.

Try to find the positive elements in everything
Whenever you are out in the world, try to focus on seeing the positives in everything. For example, when a person cuts you off in traffic, change your mind to think about how lucky you were to be safe in that encounter and think about how that person must really have somewhere to be since they didn’t mind your space.

Smile more
Just the act of smiling can help your mood lift and your attitude brighten. Try smiling more to help bring up your spirits no matter how much pain you feel.

Focus on what you can do
It’s all too easy for any of us to focus on all the things we can’t do in our lives. Instead, make a list of all the things you can do. You might be amazed by how long this list can get.

Think about the future
For many of us, focusing on the future and what might happen is getting in the way of our optimism. Think about the future as something that is not only filled with positive events and occurrences, but also as something that we can make positive and productive with the actions we take today.

Recognize bad days will pass
When things do get tough, remind yourself that a bad moment will pass. They always do.

Try some affirmations
Try to find some positive statements you can read to yourself over and over as you are feeling pain. This will help you to refocus your thoughts on the positive and eventually, these affirmations will become your mantras which you will carry wherever you go. Some you can use include: I am strong and healthy. I am free from pain. My body feels great. I am powerful and relaxed.

Surround yourself with positive people
When you surround yourself with positive people, you not only have people to support you, but you will also find it much easier to keep your own spirits up. If you’re constantly surrounded by negative people, it can feel like an uphill battle to keep your optimism.

The key to being an optimist is to recognize that there is always another way to look at something in your life. Whether you have a negative thought pattern or a bad day of pain, you can change the way you think and the way you react to the situation.

At first, it might seem like a lot of work, but as with all habits, it just takes time to become the optimist you want to be.

Warts are a common problem. These ugly growths strike children and teenagers with a greater frequency than adults. This is in part due to their lifestyle. It is also the result of an immature immune system. Warts do have a tendency to impact those with a compromised system.

There are many different types of warts. All are the result of the Human Papillona Virus (HPV). It causes Plantar, Flat, Common and Filiform warts. They may crop up singly or in groups. While not harmful, they are unwanted.

How to Cure Your Wart Naturally with Home Remedies?

There are more ways to eradicate warts than there are warts themselves. You can choose from a variety of prescribed, doctor administered and alternative treatments. Read the literature, study the problem and talk to your doctor. In the end, choose the method that will best work for you.

Many people do not like to visit the doctor. They find current methods of treatment sterile or counterproductive. They do not like to apply chemicals to their body. They see the current medications as invasive or unnecessary. Many also believe the cost is too great. They find this true in both physical and monetary terms. Rather than go through a medical procedure or rely on synthetic and/or intrusive cures, they seek more natural solutions. Many individuals turn to alternative ways to remove their warts. They prefer to rely on old home remedies, homeopathic methods or natural solutions.

As is the case with traditional medications and procedures, you need to know what type of wart you have. You also need to understand what the “cure” or treatment entails. Be very aware of such things as food and skin allergies. Be informed as to the components of the treatment. Follow directions carefully.

Non-traditional means of curing warts may take longer than the conventional means. Some may be less effective or ineffective. Some may actually work better. Some doctors state the folk cures are based on inexact science and are no better than witchcraft. Others say the warts only disappear because it is part of their pattern. They note the length of time the cure takes may just coincide with the cycle or growth pattern of the wart.

Since little study has been conducted on the various home, folk or alternative home remedies, it is judgmental on the part of both detractors and supporters to say they are right. It remains in the future to verify or negate the treatment as viable.

Natural home remedies for warts are less expensive alternatives to either doctor administered or prescribed treatments. They are as readily available and even less costly than the over-the-counter treatments. As with the case of all home remedies, they take time and patience. The success rate of alternative medication depends upon the same variables that apply to conventional medicine. You need to find what works for you.

The following page will consider the so-called alternative approaches to treating your ugly warts. It will look at both old home remedies and modern adaptations. These are generally simple, inexpensive and non-invasive solutions. The ingredients are usually found in your garden or your super market.

Some remedies outlined here offer relief within an hour while others take effect within a few hours of application. These remedies are for pain relief only and do not replace the need for a good dentist.

Toothache Home Remedies Using Garlic Clove

Combine one clove of garlic with a sprinkling of rock salt and crush into a fine paste. Apply directly to the affected tooth but apply sparingly as too much can leave a burning sensation.

A clove of garlic crushed with a teaspoon of peanut butter applied to the tooth is also effective for pain relief.

You can also place a whole clove of garlic on the tooth for 30 minutes. If you’re able to apply pressure, bite down on the clove allowing some of the juice to release on the affected tooth providing a natural soothing anesthetic. Gives relief within 20 minutes.

Chewing a clove of garlic also strengthens the immunity of the weakened tooth enabling it to heal from infection reducing pain and inflammation.

Vanilla Extract and Almond Extract

Using either a cotton ball or a q-tip, soak with the pure vanilla extract solution and apply to the affected tooth or area. This should provide a numbing sensation within minutes.

Toothache Home Remedies with Tea Tree Oil

Create a mouthwash by adding 3 drops of tea tree oil to 1 glass of water, stir well. Take a mouthful and swill it for 30 seconds at a time, spit out. Repeat again. Rinse the mouth thoroughly with a solution of lukewarm salt water. Do not swallow the tea tree oil mixture.

You should experience a noticeable dulling of the pain and a numbing sensation after the second mouthwash treatment; this is due to tea tree oil’s penetrating properties which permeates the gum tissue to desensitize the nerves transmitting pain signals. The gums should also reduce in pain, redness and swelling as the tea tree kills the infection caused from bacteria.

Cucumber and Toothache Home Remedies

Take one cucumber and slice off a half inch think piece. Bit down gently on the affected tooth and hold in place for 10 minutes. Easing of the pain should be experienced within that time period.

Refrigerating the cucumber helps to further reduce swelling and pain.

Natural Toothache Remedies with Ginger Root

Place a teaspoon of powdered Ginger and Cayenne pepper into a cup and add a few drops of water, mix until it becomes a watery paste. Place a cotton ball into the mixture until it’s saturated and place on the affected tooth. Try to keep the cotton ball on the tooth as the Cayenne pepper can irritate the surrounding gums.

Ginger without the Cayenne pepper is equally as effective in the relief of toothache pain just as is Cayenne pepper without the Ginger.

Toothache Home Remedies using Onion

Place a piece of onion big enough to cover the affected tooth. Leave on the tooth for 30 minutes to help kill bacteria and give pain relief.

If the tooth allows for it, cut off a bite sized piece of onion and chew it for 2 to 3 minutes. This will release the antiseptic qualities of the onion and help the pain to subside.

Natural Toothache Home Remedies with Raw Ginger

Cut an inch piece size of Ginger root, peel off the skin layer and place the piece of Ginger on the affected tooth. If able, gently bite down holding it in place. Doing this alone can rapidly decrease pain as the healing properties of the Ginger become absorbed into the surrounded affected area. Again, if you’re able to do so, chew the piece of the Ginger swishing the Ginger juice around the painful tooth.

The remaining Ginger root should provide long term relief and can be stored in the refrigerator should you need additional treatment. The Ginger root also keeps well at room temperature as the cut part of the Ginger root forms a natural seal keeping it fresh for longer.

Toothache Home Remedies with Tea

Place a standard teabag into a cup of water, place in the microwave for 1 minute. Remove the teabag while still warm and place on the sore tooth. Bite down gently and hold in place for 20 minutes or until you get pain relief.

Substituting green tea instead of regular tea works as equally well.
