The pH Diet: Forever or Just For a While?
Since it’s generally the case the people tend to go off diets when they have lost weight or when they feel better, you might be wondering the same thing.
Do I need to keep eating the way the pH Diet tells me?
The truth is that for any diet to work for you, it needs to be something you follow in the long term. You didn’t get ‘unhealthy’ by eating badly for just a few days, after all. You became less healthy when you made new habits which supported poor eating choices.
Keep Your pH Balanced
Forever is the key to keeping your pH as balanced as possible. When you continue to introduce acidic foods, your body will never have a chance to rest and simply be balanced. This is not a good thing. You need to make sure you are giving your body every opportunity to be as healthy as possible.
That means you need to choose the best foods possible on most, if not all, days.
If you do not stick with the pH friendly foods, your body will not be able to reap the benefits of these changes.
Making New Habits Takes Time
As you’ve already learned, good habits take time to develop and to concretize. You need to continue a new habit for at least three weeks in order for it to stick. When you continue to go back to your old habits, you will have to restart the habit-making process.
Instead of stopping and starting, use the slow and steady process of gradually introducing new foods and habits. Once you are comfortable with one new habit, move onto a new change. Sure, it’s going to take some time, but that’s better than not ever succeeding.
Slow and steady does indeed win the race to health.
Once in a While Treats
You might not have expected to hear this, but it’s true – eat your treats once in a while. Let’s say that again: go ahead and cheat on this diet ONCE IN A WHILE.
If you want to eat something that isn’t in the pH Diet, there’s no hard and fast rule that says you can not do so. Just keep in mind that you might not feel very well after eating this way again.
However, your life might not be able to be pH friendly all the time. You might want to eat a piece of cake at a wedding or enjoy some wine after dinner. You can do so.
So long as most of your diet is pH friendly, you will not be harming your health or undoing your progress. It’s only when that once-in-a-while treat turns into a month of processed foods where it can get a bit challenging.
The best road to success is one that continues on for the rest of your life. Taking detours is not the best choice when you want to enjoy your pH success for life.
