To begin with, the patient, in fever, should not be given any food and kept on fast with water. It may be kept in mind that during fever, the patient himself detests taking any food. Also the action of the fever is hampered, because then the organs of the body, instead of utilizing their energies in throwing out the wastes, are loaded with additional task of digesting the food. Thus Nature's action is hampered. Also any medicine given may cure the patient, but does not cure the disease, which may come later in some other even more virulent form as reaction to the toxic medicines taken. Thus, the patient should neither be given food, nor medicine and be kept on fast, or in some cases on orange juice and water.

Fever is a defensive mechanism and it should not be controlled by drugs, as far as possible, otherwise the morbid Toxins will be hidden and they may cause fever once again. Less urinary output is controlled by fluids as Juices and water. First the patient is put on FAST and the orange Juice with warm water is good. Cold pack on the forehead and body must be applied. Frequency of cold pack depends on the warm intensity of temperature. Hot water fomentation with bottles are to be applied to the feet and sides. After the temperature comes down and the patients tongue is not coated, appetite appears, he must be given 3 meals a day with fruit Juices of orange, grapes, apple, pineapple and other available fruit Juices of the season. Then he must be put on to well balanced diet. Decoction of Fenugreek along with sugar candy is also good to reduce fever.

Here are my favorite home remedies for common fever.

Home Remedies for Common Fever #1

A tea made from fenugreek seeds is equal in value to quinine in reducing fevers. This tea should be taken twice daily. It is particularly valuable as a cleansing and soothing 4 Fenugreek seeds, when moistened with water, become slightly mucilaginous, and hence, the tea made from diem has the power to dissolve a sticky substance like mucus.

Home Remedies for Common Fever #2

A cup of fresh juice of apricots mixed with one teaspoon of glucose or honey is a very cooling drink during fevers. It quenches the thirst and eliminates the waste products from the body. It tones up the eyes, stomach, liver, heart, and nerves by supplying vitamins and minerals.

Home Remedies for Common Fever #3

The juice of grapefruit is a valuable diet in all fevers. It quenches thirst and removes the burning sensation produced by the fever. Half a glass of grapefruit juice should be taken with an equal quantity of water.
